Decide whether any of the collections of points listed below form a square.
If so, which ones?
Can you make this decision without plotting the points on a grid?
Explain how you decided.
- (8, 3) (7, 8) (2, 7) (3, 2)
- (3, 3) (7, 4) (8, 8) (4, 7)
- (16, 19) (18, 22) (21, 20) (19, 17)
yes one ofthem does. i think....jc
ReplyDelete(16, 19) (18, 22) (21, 20) (19, 17) is the square because karen and i mapped it out on the activity and it lit up meaning it is.
ReplyDelete-erin vb
(16, 19) (18, 22) (21, 20) (19, 17) does because me and erin maped it out and that was a square.
ReplyDelete-karen oliveira :)
i drew one by finding the parrallell slopes of each side, because squares have opposite sides parallel. - rohan
ReplyDelete(16, 19) (18, 22) (21, 20) (19, 17)
ReplyDeleteYes you can figure out if any of the points listed form a square by using the slope formula to see if the sides are parallel nad is the adjacent sides are perpendicular(perpendicular sides form right angles) na dby using the distance formula in order to find if the sides are congruent--if the opposite sides are parallel, adjacent sides form right angles, and the sides are congruent, then the figure is a square.
ReplyDelete**The coordinate points 3, 3) (7, 4) (8, 8) (4, 7) form a square.

number 3 (16, 19) (18, 22) (21, 20) (19, 17) mapped outto be a square

ReplyDeletethe thrid coordinates made a square for me and Briannaa.
-annaa
(16, 19), (18,22), (21, 20), (19, 17) was a tilted square.
ReplyDelete- Brianna
opps and (16, 19) (18, 22) (21, 20) (19, 17)

you need to use the slope formula
ReplyDelete-T
YOu can find which ones a square by finding the slop of each side by doing the distance formular and if all their slopes are the same then that means its a square.
ReplyDelete-JILL CHRISTIAN
I think that the points (16, 19), (18, 22), (21, 20), and (19, 17) form a square. You can figure out if the points form a square without plotting them by finding the slope.
ReplyDelete-- Rachael Pesce (:
NUMBERS 1 AND 2 WERE CONGRUENT. BY USING THE SLOPE FORMULA I WAS ABLE TO FIND OUT THE CREDENTIAL PIECE OF INFORMATION. y+mx+b
ReplyDeletetimothy john williams
the first one and the third makes a square.
ReplyDeleteyes, you can make this decision without mapping it out by finding the slop of each side. the slopes of the opposite side would be congruent and the slope perpendicular would be the negative reciprical of the first slope.
that was shannon ^
ReplyDeleteThe first and third coordinates are squares. You can tell by the congruent slopes and side lengths. If it is congruent then it is a square.
ReplyDeletethe points that form a square would be the first one and the third one.
ReplyDelete- Alison Reisert.
The first and the third cordinates are squares because we maped it out and the slopes and the angles made a square.
ReplyDeleteNumber i and 2 were both square and I found this out by using the slope formula.
ReplyDeleteJonny
Number one is a square, but the rest are not squares.
ReplyDelete-catarina prata
The following points form a square: (3, 3)(7, 4) (8, 8)and (4, 7.) You can figure out which of the points form a square by using the slope formula...this way you can see if the sides are parallel and the adjacent sides are perpendicular...also the distance formula to see if the sides are congruent...A square has four congruent sides and four congruent angles...
ReplyDelete-Steffani C
(16, 19)(18, 22)(21, 20)(19, 17) were the coordinates that formed a square for me... i take back the other comment i posted.... but my explanation remains the same that you can use the slope formula and the distance formula as well....
ReplyDeletethat was steffani C ^
ReplyDeleteThe points I used to from my slanted square were (6,15) (11,18) (9,10) and (14,13). You can use the distance formula to find if all of the lengths of the square are congruent, and the slope formula to see if the opposite sides of the square are equal.

ReplyDelete(16, 19) (18, 22) (21, 20) (19, 17)
ReplyDeletebecause they seem very spaced out and at different heights which would be needed to make a tilted square

the third one because they are similar and close numbers so it would be a similar shape.
