Definitions of Quadrilaterals

A Parallelogram is a quadrilateral having 2 sets of opposite sides parallel, opposite sides are congruent and opposite angles are congruent.

A Rectangle is a quadrilateral that is also a parallelogram.  It has 4 right angles.

A Rhombus is a quadrilateral that is also a parallelogram.  All sides of a rhombus are congruent.  Opposite angles are congruent.

A Square is a quadrilateral that is also a parallelogram.  All sides of a square are congruent.  It has 4 right angles.  A square is a special type of Rhombus and a special type of Rectangle.

A Kite is a quadrilateral that has 2 pairs of adjacent sides congruent.  1 set of opposite angles (the ones between the unequal sides) are congruent.

A Trapezoid is a is a quadrilateral having one set of parallel lines.

An Isosceles Trapezoid is a special case of a Trapezoid.  The non-parallel sides are congruent.
